Vickie Sears is happily married to the love of her life for 12 years. The joy of her life comes from her family.  She and her husband are the proud parents of two children, son Zachary age 11 and daughter Amanda age 8. She says, “My family is everything to me. We often spend time with extended family that most people only see on a pedigree chart! She was born and raised in SLC and has been a member all her life.

The other love of her life is teaching children. She has had this passion as far back as she can remember, her childhood alias being “Miss Murphy” as  she played school with her friends, siblings, cousins and anyone she could get into her “class.”

Mrs. Sears loves teaching and has been teaching daily for the past two years at her children’s school.  She was the most sought after substitute teacher at the two main schools where she regularly taught. She loved every minute of her past experience but is very excited for this new opportunity at American Legacy Academy!

“I love to see that sparkle in their eyes when they finally grasp a concept or are learning something that they are so interested in and they're having fun learning it. I want that challenge for them and for myself.  I feel that teaching by principle and making the subjects interesting and fun to learn is very important.  When I am entrusted with a child's spiritual and mental well being I take that challenge to the highest level by way of daily preparation, advanced planning, and sensitivity to each individual need and personality.  My highest goal at American Legacy Academy is to see each student grow and develop mentally, spiritually and physically; each to their individual capability.

“The ways that I want to influence my potential students is by being a good role model.  I want to show them how important and fun it can be coming to school to learn and how important education is.  I want them to realize how blessed they are to live in our country.  I want them to see that Heavenly Father has given us this beautiful world to use and to make the most of it and its resources. I want them to know that they have the potential to make this world a better place for all.

“I have a deep love and testimony of the Gospel and I am excited to be able to share this with the children”.

Interests and Activities

“I have held many positions in the Church serving in the Relief Society Presidency, and Y.W.'s. I have been a visiting teaching supervisor and a visiting teaching coordinator. I have held many positions in Primary.  I love to travel anywhere with my family.  We love to watch movies and play games.  My family has condos in Lava Hot Springs that we frequent through out the year. My hobbies and interests are my family.  I really don't have much time for other hobbies or interests.  I enjoy fine dining on special occasions with my husband. I would love to find time to learn to golf, ballroom dance and finish teaching myself how to play the piano.  I enjoy reading.  I have several dance and drama awards but the most exciting to me is...I am a wife and a mother and that is the most wonderful thing that I can think of!  I wouldn't have it any other way.  So when I say that I am just a mom and a wife I say that with a lot of pride and joy!
