Mrs. Haskell was born and raised on a dairy farm in Mesa, AZ.  She and her husband have lived in Highland the past 18 years and have 5 sons and 1 daughter ranging from the ages of 15-25.  She has had the opportunity to stay home the past 25 years to raise her children and be very active in their schooling and education, home schooling them on occasion when the need arose.
Education and Related Experience
She attended 2 years of college at Mesa Community College then served a mission in the Florida Tallahassee Mission.  After her mission she finished her education taking several elementary education classes graduating with her BA from BYU in University Studies in 1979.  She has had many opportunities to learn and teach in her church and community.

  • She has served approximately 20 years in both the Primary and Cub Scout organizations.
  • Taught piano 12 years
  • Directed a before school orchestra program for Highland Elementary.
  • Taught in a neighborhood Joy School

She loves working with children and relates to them well. As she has worked with children in the past she has had the gift of being able to see clearly what their potential is and she has a desire to inspire them to obtain that potential.
The major ways she would like to influence her students are best summed up in three ways. These ways were made apparent to her when she home schooled her children years ago. She believes, as we do, that if children are successful in these areas they will be successful and productive citizens of the communities in which they will someday live.
a. Children must learn all they can in the field of academics. Hopefully along the way the learning process will turn into a passion for discovering new things the rest of their lives.
b. They must learn the importance of respect for their peers, how to get along with them, and how to build healthy relationship with them.
c. They must understand the importance of respect for authority, whether it is their teacher, or the President of the United States, or the laws by which our society is governed.
