Jennifer was born and raised in Northern California as the oldest of four daughters, and is “Aunt JennJenn” to one nephew. She enjoys playing volleyball, rock-climbing, swimming, practicing American Sign Language, and traveling to visit her family back in the Bay Area.
Her two greatest passions began at very early ages. At the “ripe old age” of 3 she began to read. She still hears stories float through her home stake about “the little girl in nursery who used to read the cards at her friends birthday parties.” To this day, it is rare to find her without several books in her possession and even more being added to her “to-be-read” list. She was also introduced to genealogy at a very young age. She would spend her weekends begging her grandmother to pull out the “box” of pictures and be told stories of life back in Arkansas. As a youth, Jennifer began doing her own research, and enjoys spending her free time planning a trip down south for a genealogical expedition.
In 2008, Jennifer graduated with her Bachelor of Science from Portland State University where she studied children’s literature, elementary education, classroom technology and child development. During her education, she worked in many classrooms where she discovered the importance of encouraging students to become independent learners and to become responsible for their own successes. She believes that through hands-on learning, students can better connect with the material, the world around them and to develop their own passions for learning and truth.
Miss Golden is very excited to be working at American Legacy Academy and is looking forward to learning and growing with her students this year. Her enthusiasm for literature, journaling, history and the Gospel will surely play large roles in her student’s daily lessons as they grow in their understanding of who they are and where we came from.
